Objectives

Incumbents are responsible for performing high level clerical duties and office support in the Records Department at the Dickinson Police Department.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Performs front desk duties, first point of contact with the public;
  • Registers sex offenders and works closely with detectives to ensure offender’s compliance with state laws;
  • Fingerprints offenders, and the public for various reasons;
  • Compiles reports, drivers histories, criminal histories, citations, and evidence for courts and attorneys;
  • Processes all accident reports, citations, and incident reports, checking for accuracy;
  • Answers, handles, and directs public phone calls for the normal operations of the Records Division;
  • Performs a variety of clerical and record keeping duties to include filing various documents, updating documents as instructed and disposing of documents as instructed;
  • Keeps statistics and reports in designated area;
  • Process crime reports transcribing written reports into numeric NIBRS coding for State and National statistics;
  • Perform background checks as requested and disseminate information;
  • Performs other duties of a similar nature as required;
  • Processes and reviews department level accounting related to petty cash, records release fees, licensing and cash receipts;
  • Tasks are multiple and diverse with some interrelationship across processes. Requires the direct application of a variety of procedures, policies and precedents.

  • Basic bookkeeping
  • Basic applied mathematical principles (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division)
  • Ability to work as part of a team as well as independently
  • Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions
Minimum Requirements
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Pre-employment drug screen, background check, and reference checks are required
  • Requires up to one year experience in a customer service, basic record keeping, administrative or office position, or an equivalent combination of education and experience to successfully perform the essential duties of the job
  • Complete and Pass NEXTest NCIC testing to maintain access to computer program (within 90 days)
