Sorry to hear about the Odessey project getting denied. Is the Dickinson Hills project still viable? We need shopping in Dickinson, why send sales tax money away??
Sorry about the Odessey theater being denied. Is the Dickinson Hills project still viable? Seems like it wasn’t actively pursued. We need sales tax money here, not going down the road to Bismarck.

If they were really sincere in building the theatre in dickinson they wouldn’t have said if this doesn’t happen here we won’t build anywhere else because for the feasibility of Buying land doesn’t pan out and most cities give them land Because land is too expensive so in other words they can’t afford it unless you give them land but if you are any other business/Homeowner we would have to purchase a land at market value whereas the city of dickinson tried to make this happen buy selling the land cheap to them and giving them a dead line to meet if not this would have turned into another issue just like the old elks building did.
It sucks that covid 19 is here but isn’t this the time to build when people are looking for jobs and willing to bid a bit lower just to have a job than not and also build while no one is open that way when it’s open to the public to roam it is ready to make money instead of only starting construction and waiting another year for construction and still no profit.
I agree we need businesses to come to dickinson but at the same time I feel like that area would be better off to have a parking ramp that way the businesses that are there have a place for the customers and employees to park and I feel like The old Ivanhoe building is such an eyesore and falling apart and that’s where the theater should go and at one time there was talk about eliminating The park on the corner of Sims and Villard and putting a parking ramp there so why not use that half a block and put the theater in that area which in turn the theater would be on a more main road.
So in summary the theater would have more Main road visibility being on the corner of Villard and 1st Ave East and sims and if we do a parking ramp back by the post office where they wanted to build it would be a win-win situation for everybody because a parking ramp on the corner where the park would just look ugly and Out of place.
I think before this even got to this point there should have been more thought in the over all picture.
