Dickinson State University
Come join the combined choirs of Dickinson High School and Dickinson State University for an evening of choir favorites from some of America’s most exciting composers, featuring the music of Los Angeles-based composer Eric Whitacre.
Widely regarded as the most famous living composer of music for choirs, Eric Whitacre’s music has been performed throughout the world by millions of amateur and professional musicians alike, while his ground-breaking Virtual Choirs have united singers from over 120 different countries. His music is known for its innovative use of dense, jazz-like harmonies, and lush textures that vividly highlight the meaning of evocative texts.
In addition, the choirs will present music of other American composers, including Joseph Martin and Aaron Copland. The various choirs will sing several selections on their own and close the concert with a performance by the combined choirs – over 100 singers in all! Come join us for a concert you won’t want to miss!
