The cornerstone of Crime Prevention is you! Dickinson is a large city in respect to the number of officers on patrol, and without help from alert citizens, crime has the advantage. But with your help, we can prevent crime together and make Dickinson a safe and crime-free community! The main focus of Badlands Crime Stoppers is to pay rewards for anonymous tips on serious crimes that lead to an arrest. There is a very simple but strict procedure that must be followed in order for a reward to be paid.
How Does It Work?
First, a tip must come in on the secure Badlands Crime Stoppers tip line (text 701-840-6108 or call 701-456-7754) or on the secure web tip section below, or through our new iPhone/Android app below! Once the tipster provides substantial information that may lead to an arrest, a code number is assigned to the tipster and they are told to check back after a specified time with that code number to verify if an arrest has been made as a result of their tip. Second, the tipster calls back on the secure Badlands Crime Stoppers tip line or accesses their tip on the cellphone app and provides the code number they were originally assigned. If an arrest has been made they are assigned a second code number and told a specific local bank at which to present their two code numbers at the drive-thru and they will be given a cash reward.
Badlands Crime Stoppers receives its reward funding from charitable donations and grants. The civilian Board of Directors reviews every potential reward that comes in to the program and factors the information in its totality to determine the amount of reward to be paid to a tipster. If the anonymity of the tipster is intentionally lost at some point, Badlands Crime Stoppers can use all of the factors involved in the transaction and choose to refuse to pay the reward.
The mission of the program is to pay rewards for anonymous tips that lead to an arrest related to a significant unsolved crime. Badlands Crime Stoppers is a valuable program to this community because of the integrity of the program and the way it maintains the highest standards in its operation. Badlands Crime Stoppers recognizes the importance of citizen involvement in helping law enforcement solve crimes, and the program enjoys being able to pay substantial rewards for information that assists law enforcement in making arrests.
